fall of the house of usher question? uhg please?
i posted this in another section too and didn’t get a response..i am so confused. this is homework and i have no clue what the answer is. i have reread this story several times and no matter what, i can’t understand this! i’m sorry if i sound stupid and i appreciate this so much!
here’s the question-
one aspect of roderick’s mental illness is his overwhelming dread of furniture, not so much for what it holds in store, but for the terror it will bring which he is sure will destroy his reason. his poem “the haunted palace,” expresses this fear of madness. it presents an elaborate allegory, a story in which characters or settings represent abstract ideas or qualities. the palace stands for a human head and mind. in the final stanza, what images suggest the palace is now haunted by madness?
