What’s a good thesis statement for a speech on Depression?

I have an assignment for my Creative Speaking class and im going to give a speech on Depression. I need ideas for a good thesis statement for the speech.

While I won’t do your homework for you, I will say that your thesis should be a one sentence summary of your speech. So it depends on the direction of your speech as to what a good thesis would be.

An example might be, “Depression greatly impacts people’s lives.(Then do the speech on the tough times people go through with depression.)

Or you can say, “People with depression have a variety of treatment options.” (Then you would talk about the different treatments for depression.)

So first think about the way you want to approach the subject, then do a little background research to see what is out there, finally craft a thesis.

The best test is to pretend your mom asks you, “So what are you doing your speech about?” However you would answer that in detail probably is close to what your thesis should be.
