What are depression/cutting hotlines? And what’s their purpose?

And can someone recommend me one for depression. I live in the 408 area.

They are hotlines for people who are depressed or who cut themselves, and quite simply put, they are a place where you can call if you are feeling like you are in crisis.

They do not provide counselling, but do offer an empathetic and listening ear for when you are in crisis – in hopes that you will reach out and avoid any harmful behaviour. They will also try to link you up with resources in your area … ie. provide you with phone numbers, etc.
