depression cake ..?

Reciepe for depression cake?
does anyone know of the recipe for a depression cake, it was a cake my great-grandmother made during the era of the great depression..it is almost a yellow cake with a “flop” in the middle. I cannot find her reciepe as she is passed now..can someone help me with their family reciepe? thanks in advance!!

GREAT DEPRESSION CAKE

2 c. sugar
1 c. black coffee
2 c. raisins
1 apple, peeled & grated
1 stick butter
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 tsp. each cinnamon, ground cloves, allspice & nutmeg

Bring raisins to boil and rinse. In large saucepan simmer first five ingredients 10 minutes. Cool 10 minutes. Blend together other ingredients and stir into wet ingredients. Pour into well greased and floured 13″x9″ pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean when inserted in middle. Better second day. Very moist cake and needs no icing.
